Many of the graduates of the MFA Program have gone on to distinguished writing and teaching careers, working at schools, writing conferences, and universities across the country, as well as placing work with major publications such as University of Pittsburgh, ECCO, and HarperCollins. Some of our students manage to publish a full length book before graduation or shortly after, several within the first year or two after earning their degree. To date, FIU MFA alumni have published almost two hundred books and have been featured in the New York Times, the Academy of American Poetry, and the Best New Poets and Best New Essays series as well as having won distinguishing awards and recognition. Some of FIU's alum have gone on to have their books turned into films or TV shows, have read for the Presidential inauguration, or have founded arts organizations such as The O,Miami Festival.

All alumni and friends receive our newsletter of departmental accomplishments and events throughout semester. If you have an item you would like us to include in the newsletter or would like to be added to the mailing list, please email the Creative Writing Program Assistant Emily Jalloul.
